• The OAVs have been available on VHS on commercial release in both subtitled and dubbed format for a couple of years now, released in the US by Urban Vision, and they are available from many outlets.
• The OAVs are now available on region 1 DVD with Japanese and English sountracks and english subtitles.
• 2 Gatchaman Premium Selection VHS tapes were released in 1999, these are unsubtitled but may still be commercially available.
• Gatchaman DVDs (in raw Japanese, not subtitled) began to be released from May 2000 onwards. There are 27 DVDs, with 2 new ones being released each month.
• Older Gatchaman CDs, such as the OAV soundtrack, are no longer in production, so most stores stock bootlegs rather than originals.

Amazon stock the OAVs, and you may also find interesting items in the auctions and zshops.
Amazon Japan now sells the Gatchaman DVDs (obviously these are all in raw japanese with no subtitles), and the upcoming Gatch 2 box sets (also no subtitles)

Fujisan Books has an english language site and now stocks DVDs and CDs. You need to search for Gatsuchiyaman not Gatchaman.
Half.com may be an inexpensive way to get hold of the OAVs.

JIGS (Japanese Internet Goods Shop) in Japan stocks the DVDs - their website is in english.
Joys Japanimation stocks some Gatchaman CDs, DVDs and VHS.
Jungle in Japan stocks a few LDs, DVDs and the occasional VHS. It's worth checking both the Inventory and Preorder sections.
Movie Gallery stocks the OAVs
Order Anime, or AnimeStand as they appear to have renamed themselves, have DVDs and CDs
Otaku Anime based in Japan (also UK based sales site here) might stock the newer Gatchaman DVDs at some point and has a CD or two.

Battle of the Planets

• Battle of the Planets never been released commercially (until Rhino did it) on NTSC (US/Canada format) so everything you see listed on NTSC which doesn't have Rhino's name on it is a bootleg. For information on getting BOTP and Gatchaman on tape, see the Getting Gatch on tape page before you start looking at bootleggers.
• A new publisher has been found for the UK release of BOTP! Hurrah! Early episodes of Battle of the Planets were released by Mollin Video in the UK before they went bust. Selected episodes were also released in the 80s (on the Pickwick and Longman labels) and you'll see these turn up on Ebay and other auction sites occasionally.
• Kid Rhino in the US started releasing Battle of the Planets on VHS and region 1 DVD in October 2001. See the News page for more information.
• The Battle of the Planets soundtrack which features music by Hoyt Curtin and Bob Sakuma has been available for some months

Universal Playback is continuing the Battle of the Planets release in the UK. The DVDs they are producing are encoded for regions 2 and 4. The single DVD volume that Mollin produced was encoded for all regions 1-6.

Japanese books

• Amazon.co.jp stocks the new version of Gatchaman Graffiti and other books. Their web site is entirely in Japanese but if you're feeling brave and your browser is able to display japanese text, then you may be in with a chance. Heck, it's where I got mine and I don't do kanji at all. They also stock the new How to draw Tatsunoko Heroes book by Graphic-Sha.
• AnimeBooks.com stocks the Gatchaman Materials book and others
• Atomic Club in France stocks Gatchaman Graffiti
• Cartoon Gallery in Australia stocks Gatchaman Graffiti
• EuroAnime stocks Gatchaman Graffiti and the Gatchaman Materials book.
• Fujisan.com has several Gatchaman books in stock including the new version of Gatchaman Graffiti and they have an english language area of their site as well - remember to search for Gatsuchiyaman not Gatchaman. It's a romanji thing, all the search results are in romanji as well.

• Planet Anime stock the Gatchaman Materials book
• Protoculture Addicts includes articles on Gatchaman in issues 67 and 68
• Otaku Anime based in Japan (also UK based sales site here) stocks the new Gatchaman Graffiti, Gatchaman Materials and Gatchaman dare da books
• Sakura Media in Canada stocks Gatchaman Graffiti and Gatchaman Materials.
• Sasuga Books has a few Gatch books - search for Gatchaman (english title) or Gacchaman (romanji title)
• Ebay may also have books available, but be careful not to end up paying more than you would from a shop. It's just not worth paying US$250 for a 2nd hand copy of Gatchaman Graffiti any more :-).
• Also remember that if you have a local Japanese book store, you may be able to get them to order any current publications for you as long as you have the title, ISBN and publisher names. These will probably be available on the Gatchaman Goodies page. Remember though that Japanese publications tend to go out of print after about 2 years, and after that bookstores won't be able to order them.

English language books

• The comic - there are so many places to get this that I'm not going to bother listing them unless somebody asks.
• G-Force: Animated - the official Battle of the Planets Guidebook. This is available from TwoMorrows Publishing, and Amazon.com

There are usually quite a few Gatchaman items on auction on Yahoo Japan. Celga Anime will act as an intermediary. They specialise in cels but will bid on other items as well. Click here to view what's on auction at the moment for Gatchaman.
